The Georgia Avenue Adoption Center of the Washington Humane Society has moved! Many of my pet sitting clients have adopted their cats or dogs from this location and also drop off donations of items that are useful to the shelter. The cramped quarters has brought a lot of joy to pet parents and shelter residents over the years.
As of April 12, 2016, you will be traveling to the 71 Oglethorpe Street which is within 2 miles of the old location.
Why does this address sound familiar? Recently, the Washington Humane Society and Washington Animal Rescue League decided to officially combine forces to better serve pet parents, future adopters and over 60,000 animals annually. Very exciting times are ahead as this new initiative offers rescue and adoption, humane law enforcement, low-cost veterinary services, animal care & control, behavior and training, spay-neuter services, humane education, and many others
The move will mean more space shelter residents, a wonderful cat room where they get some room to roam, larger exercise areas, free, off-street parking and outdoor areas to meet-up with new dog friends and open areas to greet a possible kitty match.
Also, don’t forget to drop-off any supplies and donations while you are there. Presents 4 Pets are always a great idea for a house warming gift.
