Long walks or heading to the dog park were not high on everyone’s list for fun things to do with their dog this last weekend as frigid temperatures visited the Washington, DC area.
Cabin fever was setting in for dogs as pet parents and pet sitters had to reduce the time spent outside due to the windchill dipping to single digits.
How to break the boredom and reduce getting into mischief?
This would be a good time to pull out the snuffle mat. It is a rubber mat with holes that is laced with strips of fleece. You can either buy them on-line or make one yourself. You can find videos on YouTube if you want to do-it-yourself.
Sprinkle their dry food or treats on the fleece and spread throughout the colorful strips and let the snuffling begin!
This interactive mat is a great way to break the boredom. It also slows down eating for the dogs who inhale their food since they have to search for the delectable nuggets! You can also use it for nose and scent work.
Sounds like the perfect Valentine gift for your pet.
